While away at the Waterville Valley Ski Resort, I just knew I had to get a new book from this charming little bookstore in the Town Center. The Bookmonger is an inviting, homey book shop that encourages guests to slow down to take in all of the artfully crafted displays. It was quite the contrast to the loud hockey rink! I found myself walking around with friends talking about all of the wonderful children’s books that we used to read to our kids. There is something magic about being in a small bookstore with close friends that brings on the nostalgia of younger days with our now preteen children. We all agreed that we miss reading to our “babies”. We shared the same sentiment of wanting our kids to see us enjoying the enchantment of being lost in a book – hoping someday they will feel that same thirst for reading.

I chose this Colleen Hoover book, Confess, to get lost in. I have read many of her books already – Verity, It Ends With Us, It Starts With Us, All Your Perfects and others – and I just knew I would not be able to put this book down. If you have read any of Hoover’s books, you know that she is an amazing author that writes novels that are very difficult to tear yourself away from. Here is the summary from the back of the book:

“Auburn Reed has lost everything important to her. In her fight to rebuild her shattered life, she has her goals in sight and there is no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry. For once, Auburn takes a chance and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping a major secret from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything Auburn loves most, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it. To save their relationship, all Owen needs to do is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin. In her magnificent and exceptional style, Colleen Hoover delivers once again in a deeply moving story about how true love and family are ties that can never be broken.”

I started this book while waiting for my sons to get out of football practice (as you can see from the photo above). I enjoyed my few minutes of silence with the windows down and the warm autumn breeze sweeping through the car.
